Our Team

Dr. Krista Kurlinkus

Creator, Grant Writing Made Easy
CEO, Krista Kurlinkus LLC

Dr. Krista Kurlinkus is a nationally recognized grant writing consultant, educator, and strategist with over a decade of full-time experience helping nonprofit, government, and academic organizations secure funding. She holds a PhD in English with a specialization in Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy Studies and spent years teaching university-level writing before building her consulting and education work.

Krista has written winning proposals across federal, state, foundation, corporate, and global funding sources, including multi-million-dollar federal awards and multiple six-figure research and program grants.

As the founder of Grant Writing Made Easy and CEO of Krista Kurlinkus LLC, she brings together rare expertise in advanced writing instruction and real-world grant consulting. Because she continues to lead an active consulting practice, everything she builds and teaches is grounded in current funder expectations, competitive funding environments, and the realities of limited capacity.

Krista’s work focuses on teaching grant writing as rigorous persuasive writing supported by clear strategy and sustainable systems, not formulas or guesswork.

Dr. Stephanie Weaver

Educator, Systems Lead, & Grant Strategist,
Grant Writing Made Easy & Krista Kurlinkus LLC

Dr. Stephanie Weaver is a grant strategist, curriculum designer, and writing educator with deep expertise in persuasive communication and instructional design. She holds a PhD in Rhetoric and Writing Studies and has spent more than a decade working across complex writing contexts, including federal and state grants, academic research, program development, and long-form narrative work.

Stephanie is known for her ability to translate complex, messy information into clear, compelling, funder-ready writing. Her background in writing pedagogy ensures that instruction is not only conceptually strong but immediately usable in real grant work.

As a certified Notion Administrator, Stephanie led the design and development of advanced grant writing systems that help organizations and consultants streamline workflows, manage complexity, and integrate AI ethically and effectively. Her work bridges strategy, writing, and technology, making her a key architect of how Grant Writing Made Easy supports sustainable, high-quality grant practice.

Core Values

Community

We witness daily the power of community among visionaries and changemakers in our courses, memberships, and client relations. We have seen people meet for the first time in our workshops, exchange information, and form lasting relationships based on shared goals and values. These connections have led to collaborations, partnerships, and support networks that have helped individuals and organizations achieve their goals. By working together, sharing resources and knowledge, and supporting one another, we can amplify our impact and create lasting change in the world. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive community that welcomes all individuals and organizations who share our values and vision.

Creativity

We embrace creativity in all things not just because it creates better products, but it makes for better experiences. We believe all humans are creative and creativity is inherently worth fostering. We try to infuse joy, a spirit of exploration, and a sense of wonder to every experience and offer in our business, for our team, clients, and students.

Courage

We show up even when it’s scary, embrace uncertainty, and dare to be ourselves. We stand up for ourselves and for others. We believe Black Lives Matter, fight for the bodily autonomy of people with uteruses, advocate for everyone's right to love who they love, and know that climate change is real and has to be stopped. We won't dampen our message to appeal to everyone. We fight for what's right.

In addition to providing 1-on-1 grant writing services,

we believe in democratizing access to grant writing education.

Hey, Krista here! I encourage you right now to open another browser window and do a quick search of online grant writing courses, undergraduate or graduate programs in grant writing, or certificates in fundraising or grant writing. Then come back to this page.

Go ahead. I'll wait.

I bet this is what you found:

There aren't enough.

In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find an undergraduate program in grant writing. There are programs in nonprofit management, English, technical writing, but not grant writing, which is worthy of its own major. There is only one graduate program in grant writing in the U.S., as of the writing of this.

There are programs and certificates in nonprofit management offered by institutes of higher education, but grant writing is only a small, and inadequate, portion of their training. (I know this because I've talked to the professors and even been a guest lecturer for these courses because they don't have robust grant writing components.)

The courses that exist are prohibitively expensive for your average grant writer.

You probably found one-hour online trainings on a very narrow topic within grant writing for $200. You might have found a 2-day workshop for $750-$1,000. Maybe you even lucked out and found a 6-month program for $750. Or perhaps you stumbled upon a fundraising certificate program at a university with classes that start at $3,500 a piece. (They won't tell you the cost on the site; you have to request info first, but that's the average fee for a university course.)

Most people who need to learn grant writing for the financial sustainability of their nonprofit can't afford large tuitions and financial commitments like these. Even the $200 1-hour courses aren't affordable because you need to take dozens of them to get the full education you need to be successful with grants.

And here's the really big one: The courses that are affordable aren't taught by professional writing educators.

There could be some amazing instructors out there. I'm not knocking all the other grant writing teachers. But here's what I know for sure: To teach writing exceptionally well, you need to be educated in the teaching of writing.

Many of the courses you'll find are taught by professionals in the field who have decades of experience in grant writing, but no professional training in the teaching of writing. Just because you can do it well, doesn't mean you can teach someone else to do it well.

What you'll learn in a lot of these programs is generalized rules and principles of grant writing rather than true writing instruction, feedback, and guidance.

I have a Ph.D. in the teaching of writing (Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy Studies). I spent years, studying, practicing, researching, and writing about this topic professionally with the topic scholars in the field.

I designed my course using the theory and pedagogy I learned and practiced in my Ph.D. program. We don't just teach the principles of grant writing. We show you how to write, help you practice writing, give you feedback on your writing, and even help you revise your writing.

That's why our course has both the go-at-your-own-pace evergreen content AND the live, twice monthly writing workshops. And the way I teach in both of those formats is based on my doctoral work and experience.
